about me

Howdy, I’m Magen!

I’m a graphic designer, illustrator, storyteller, and recovering perfectionist originally from a small town in West Texas who somehow made her way to San Francisco, California. (Talk about a plot twist.)

I’ve always had an eye for design and a love for making things, but for a long time I wondered how I could turn that into an actual career without, you know… starving. Thankfully, a few scholarships helped point me in the right direction. I earned my Associate’s in Design Communications from South Plains College in Levelland, TX, followed by a BFA in Digital Media Arts from Lubbock Christian University with a minor in Business Marketing.

Along the way, I discovered that I didn’t have to choose between being an artist and understanding the business side of things - I could do both. Now I get to combine my love of art, design, and storytelling to create work that is not only visually engaging, but has a little something to say.

When I’m not designing one of the thousands of projects I somehow have going on at once, you can usually find me nose-deep in a book, starting yet another series I absolutely did not need to binge, or sitting in a movie theater with popcorn in hand. I’m a sucker for a good story, and that love of storytelling tends to sneak its way into my work, too.

Basically, I like making pretty things with purpose—and occasionally making them a little weird, too.
